Job summary

McLaren Health Care is seeking a Unit Assistant to support nursing unit operations with administrative tasks and accurate data entry. You will help patients, greet visitors, and coordinate with nurses, physicians and staff to ensure smooth patient flow.

You will handle scheduling, records, and forms while maintaining HIPAA compliance and hospital procedures. Evening shifts, weekends, and a full-time schedule are part of the role.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Experience with data entry and maintaining department logs.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients by responding to intercom requests and coordinating services with nursing and physicians.
• Greet visitors and handle inquiries, relay calls, and provide directions as needed.
• Perform administrative tasks: phones, logs, scheduling, typing, filing, copying, faxing, and ordering supplies.
• Enter patient data and maintain records, including discharge/admission forms and notes.
• Ensure compliance with health care regulations including HIPAA and OSHA.
