Job summary

Law Firms in California is seeking an experienced Employment Defense Attorney to defend employers in employment disputes from inception through resolution. You will handle pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and settlement negotiations, and represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, hearings as needed.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Employment Defense Attorney to join a California-based litigation practice. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience defending employers in employment-related disputes and litigation and be comfortable managing matters independently from inception through resolution.

Responsibilities

• Defend employers in employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Handle pleadings, discovery, depositions, motions, and settlement negotiations.
• Represent clients in mediations, arbitrations, hearings, and trials as needed.
• Develop litigation strategies and provide case evaluations and risk assessments.
• Advise employer clients regarding employment disputes and litigation exposure.
• Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents.

Experience with some of the following is preferred:

• Wrongful termination
• Discrimination and harassment
• Wage & hour claims
• PAGA claims
• Class and collective actions

Qualifications

• 2+ years of employment defense or employment litigation experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of California employment laws and civil litigation procedures.

Salary and Other Compensation

The annual salary for this position is between [$250,000 – $300,000 annually]. Factors which may affect pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.
