Job summary

Indiana University Health is seeking a dedicated Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care and assist with daily living activities for patients in a fast-paced hospital setting.

As a non-licensed member of the care team, you will monitor patients, report changes to the RN, and help maintain a clean, safe environment while adhering to infection control practices and safety protocols.

Qualifications

• Requires current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the AHA or completion of the IU Health PCA education program.
• Knowledge of care appropriate to the age and developmental level of patients served.
• Up-to-date knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities.
• Proficiency in interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to maintain concentration under stress and manage a high workload.

Responsibilities

• Provide activities of daily living and mobility assistance.
• Assist with meals and dietary needs, patient positioning and hygiene.
• Observe and report changes in patient conditions to the RN or charge nurse.
• Maintain clean, organized patient surroundings and use safety equipment appropriately.
• Support the patient care team to ensure safe, compassionate care.
