Job summary

Indiana University Health (IU Health) is seeking a Part-Time Day Patient Care Technician (PCA) to support bedside care and assist with daily tasks. You will collaborate with RNs, help with meals, hygiene, mobility, and linen changes while maintaining safety protocols.

The ideal candidate will have compassionate bedside manners, strong communication, and the ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment. Training and certification will be provided as needed.

Qualifications

• Requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or completion during orientation.
• Ability to provide age-appropriate patient care and adapt to units' policies.
• Knowledge of infection control principles and safe patient handling.
• Strong interpersonal skills and clear communication with team and patients.
• Ability to manage high workload, maintain concentration, and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to read, perform basic math, and organize daily tasks.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with drinks, meals, walking, baths, and linen changes.
• Provide bedside assistance to the RN and report changes promptly.
• Maintain patient safety using gait belts and alarms, staying within reach.
• Support age-appropriate care and adhere to unit-specific procedures.
• Collaborate with the health care team to ensure timely care delivery.
