Job summary

City of Auburn, WA is seeking a Utility Billing Account Representative in the Finance Department to provide frontline customer service for utility billing and related programs. In this role you will explain special billing programs, update account information, perform cashiering for payments, and open/close utility accounts, reporting to the Utility Billing Supervisor.

The position emphasizes accuracy, time management, and courteous service to residents, with work hours Monday–Friday and a focus

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school supplemented by college coursework in accounting, or equivalent.
• Two years closely related work experience.

Responsibilities

• Explain special billing and service programs to customers (e.g., Winter Averaging, low-income utility assistance, and solid waste/recycling programs).
• Update and maintain accurate account information in the customer information system; input changes such as name, address, billing adjustments and service disconnections.
• Performs cashiering duties for utility payments and miscellaneous AR; posts transactions and documents, including adjusting journal entries.
• Open and close accounts for customers of one or more City utilities; request, verify and/or change information for proper billing.
