Job summary

The City of Auburn is seeking a Utility Billing Account Representative to deliver excellent customer service in a front-facing role. You will handle basic accounting tasks, update customer records, and process payments for City utilities.

Ideal candidates have strong time management, prior office experience in fast-paced environments, and familiarity with utility billing programs. Municipal experience is a plus; the department offers competitive benefits and a supportive team.

Qualifications

• High school diploma with accounting coursework or equivalent experience.
• Two years of closely related work experience preferred.
• Combination of education and experience demonstrating ability will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Explain special billing and service programs to customers and refer to assistance if eligible.
• Update and maintain accurate account information in the customer information system.
• Perform cashiering duties for utility payments and AR; post transactions and adjust entries.
• Open and close customer accounts for one or more City utilities; verify information for billing.
