FRONT OF HOUSE MANAGER

Job Type: Full-time, on-site

Location: Baltimore, MD

Salary range: $50,000 - $55,000

Note this is a full-time position that requires frequent weekend & evening work.

Everyman Theatre is seeking a dedicated Front of House Manager for its upcoming 2025/2026 season, to assume the role beginning this July 2025.

As a proactive member of the Patron Engagement team, the Front of House Manager is responsible for delivering an excellent patron experience by planning, managing, delivering, and tracking all Front-of-House, Box Office, and Volunteer functions. This position reports to the Associate Director of Marketing Operations and is a highly visible

member of our team with frontline interaction to patrons, volunteers, vendors, community members, guest artists, and staff. To be successful in this role, one must be able to deliver exceptional customer service and hospitality while creating a positive and welcoming environment for all those who enter our venue. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage a team of lead house managers, concessions supervisor, bartenders, and patron engagement representatives. A typical shift may have 4-6 front of house (FOH) associates working, plus volunteer ushers.
  • Be visible and present at all performances, as determined by the associate director.
  • Ensure all public spaces and performance venues at Everyman Theatre are ready for guests and supports a safe, lively, and engaging environment for all.
  • Oversee staff training and all FOH safety procedures. Establish and maintain standards of excellence in accordance with industry trends and best practices.
  • Coordinating and expanding the Everyman Volunteer program.
  • Work closely with associate director on managing the annual operating budget for all FOH functions.
  • Manage relationships with FOH vendors and partners, including hiring of security.
  • Monitor and ensure smooth lobby traffic, access, and seating for performances and events.
  • Anticipate and meet the requirements of special needs patrons.
  • Make sure performance-specific reports are communicated to appropriate staff and leadership in a timely manner.
  • Communicate with patrons who require special concierge support to resolve concerns or address special needs and requests.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience working in hospitality service for a mid- to large-size venue. (min 250-ppl capacity). Previous experience at a professional theatre and/or performing arts venue a plus.
  • Successful management experience, with a passion for delivering exceptional customer service. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated ability in working with the public, with conflict resolution skills.
  • Ability to provide clear leadership while emphasizing collaboration and teamwork.
  • Basic knowledge of CRM/ticketing systems (Patron Manager, Tessitura, or similar) and high proficiency in ticketing operations for live events.
  • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to work either independently or collaboratively with varied personalities.
  • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet; strategic thinking skills a plus.
  • Comfortable working in Microsoft Office Suite, with preferred experience in Excel.
  • Ability to triage priorities and perform in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to generate creative ideas and solutions to operational challenges.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry trends and emerging technologies preferred.
  • A good sense of humor and nimble sensibility to adapt communication styles as needed to engage with the diverse viewpoints of our patrons.
