Job summary

Baylor Scott & White Health is seeking a Patient Services Specialist I to provide administrative support in a physician office, clinic, or similar setting. You will help patients with check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification and phone coverage to ensure smooth operations and patient-centered care.

The role emphasizes accurate data entry, clear communication, and compassionate service in a fast-paced environment within Texas facilities.

Qualifications

• Education: HS diploma or GED required.
• Experience: less than 1 year in a relevant role.
• Strong communication and patient-relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Assists with patient duties including check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification and answering phones; organizes follow-up and referral appointments.
• Registers patients by collecting and verifying insurance information; updates demographics in the computer system and directs patients to waiting areas.
• Accepts payments for physician/clinic services per guidelines.
• Posts payments and enters charges using appropriate codes.
• Generates daily payment reports and reconciles cash drawer.
• Provides accurate patient, medical, financial or procedural information to patients or outside entities.
• May discuss financial arrangements with patients as needed.
• Answers phone calls and assists patients and visitors.
• Responds to routine inquiries about services and hours.
• Ensures patient complaints are handled appropriately.
• Assists with medical records duties as requested.
