Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) is seeking a Medical Assistant to support both front office and back office functions in a busy primary care setting. The role includes injections, EKGs, and basic patient care under supervision.

The position requires at least 1 year of MA experience or a MA credential, BLS certification, and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems. Travel to other clinic sites may be needed, and hours/location may change as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day front and back office operations; ensures MA tasks are completed timely and coordinates referrals and patient communication.
• Administers injections and assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures (e.g., EKGs, vision/hearing screenings, waived testing).
• Obtains patient history and vitals; documents quality metrics per regulatory requirements; assists with audits and MA duties in all areas.
• Maintains inventory of medical and exam room supplies; ensures equipment is calibrated, charged, cleaned, and stocked.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, enters data, activates insurance plans, and posts encounter data to funding/insurance.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliation; ensures cash collections reconcile and deposits are securely made.
• Prepares for next-day clinic by identifying appointment types, chart prep, pre-registering patients, and program eligibility screening.
• Provides exceptional customer service; greets customers, addresses concerns, and assists other departments as appropriate.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
