Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Medical Assistant to support front and back office operations in a busy clinic. Under general supervision, you will coordinate referrals, assist with injections and non-invasive procedures, and ensure accurate data entry and patient communications.

The ideal candidate has at least 1 year of MA experience, familiarity with EMR/EHR systems, Basic Life Support, and the ability to travel to other clinic sites if needed; proficiency with computers is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one (1) year experience as a Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers.
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed.

Responsibilities

• Assists with day-to-day front and back office operations.
• Administers injections and assists with patient care procedures (EKGs, vision, hearing screenings, waive testing).
• Obtains patient history and vital signs; documents quality metrics and participates in audits.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies and ensures equipment is calibrated and clean.
• Registers patients, updates demographics, and verifies insurance; posts encounter data.
• Performs end-of-day reconciliation and secures deposits.
• Prepares for next-day clinic including pre-registration and program eligibility screening.
• Provides exceptional customer service and supports other departments as needed.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
