Job summary

CommuniCare Health Centers (Texas) seeks a Medical Assistant to support both front office and back office operations at Metro Specialty. Responsibilities include patient intake, injections, basic care procedures, and coordination of referrals.

The role requires a high school diploma and at least 1 year of Medical Assistant experience, with EMR/EHR familiarity and BLS certification preferred. Travel to other clinic sites may be needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum one year experience as Medical Assistant and/or a Medical Assistant Diploma and/or a Medical Assistant Certification.
• Experience with EMR/EHR preferred.
• Experience in a primary health care setting preferred.
• Knowledgeable of personal computers
• Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS)
• Ability to travel to other clinic sites as needed
• Scheduled hours and/or work locations are subject to change

Responsibilities

• Assists with the day-to-day operations of the front and back office. Ensures that all medical assistant tasks and duties are completed in a timely and efficient manner.
• Administers injections, assists with non-invasive and direct patient care procedures, such as EKGs, vision and hearing screenings, waive testing.
• Obtains patient medical history, vital signs, and ensures that all quality metrics are completed and documented in compliance with the centers regulatory and accreditation agencies.
• Maintains inventory of medical supplies, immunization and operating supplies. Ensures that all equipment is calibrated, charged, and cleaned.
• Registers patients to include updating patient information and data entry of demographics and insurance.
• Completes end of day reconciliation reports and ensures cash is secured.
• Prepares for next day clinic by identifying appointment types and chart preparation; updates proof of income and screening patients for program eligibility.
• Provides exceptional customer service internally and externally; greets customers and addresses concerns.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
