Job summary

Genesee & Wyoming Inc. is hiring a Conductor to move freight safely and efficiently, with classroom and hands-on training provided. You’ll work outdoors in all weather, facing daily challenges while meeting customer needs. This is a physically active, growth-oriented position in a dynamic rail environment.

The role emphasizes safety, teamwork, and strong communication as you support operations across the network, with 40+ hour work weeks and a 24/7 schedule.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of related or relevant work experience is a plus.
• High school diploma or GED; valid driver's license; at least eighteen years old.
• Experience in a safety-sensitive environment is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Comply with all federal, state, and railroad safety and operating regulations.
• Follow instructions when working with a trainer, mentor, or supervisor.
• Communicate with team members using signals or radio to coordinate movement.
• Operate track switches to determine the route of train or rail equipment.
• Evaluate, plan, and complete assigned work safely and efficiently.
• Inspect the train and equipment for safety compliance during movement and at rest.
• Connect air hoses and electrical components between locomotives or railcars.
• Utilize basic computer skills for electronic reporting and train documentation.
