Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations, developing procedures to meet department demands and ensuring timely, damage-free customer freight.

You will coach hourly staff, manage workloads, enforce FMCSR, OSHA, DOT policies, plan schedules, control costs, and participate in safety and engagement initiatives. This role offers health insurance from day one, 401(k) with match, education assistance, and an incentive plan.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, or transportation.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, hazmat regulations and DOT rules.
• Willing to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands.
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff across operations and be primary contact for workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll, and other admin functions.
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily operations goals and lower costs.
• Enforce FMCSR, OSHA, CCMTA, NSC and DOT policies and laws.
• Implement workplace policies and enforce compliance to optimize network performance.
• Ensure customer freight is processed, handled, loaded and delivered timely and damage-free.
• Coach and develop employees on techniques and quality requirements, including new hire evaluations and corrective actions.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity goals.
• Make hiring/termination recommendations.
• Develop action plans to improve load average and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees.
• Train employees on safety rules and processes.
• Maintain organization for safety and productivity on shift.
• Conduct daily staff meetings and communicate policies and messages to team.
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation and direct corrections as needed.
• Provide improvement ideas for operations within shift and service center.
• Champion XPO values and uphold high standards.
