Job summary

XPO is hiring a Freight Operations Supervisor to lead and coordinate all aspects of freight operations in a fast-paced environment. You will develop procedures, supervise hourly staff, and ensure on-time, damage-free delivery while managing costs and compliance with FMCSR, OSHA and DOT rules.

The role requires coordinating schedules, coaching employees, and driving safety and productivity across the shift. A strong leader with organizational and communication skills will thrive at XPO.

Qualifications

• 2 years in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment
• Knowledge of LTL, hazardous materials regulations and DOT rules
• Availability for days, evenings, nights and weekends
• Bachelor’s degree or 4 years related work/military experience (preferred)
• 2 years supervisory experience (preferred)
• LTL industry experience (preferred)
• Leadership, communication and administrative skills (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all aspects of freight operations
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures to meet evolving department demands
• Evaluate, manage, assign and supervise workloads and tasks
• Supervise hourly staff and act as primary contact for workplace concerns
• Ensure production goals are met by managing tonnage and payroll
• Plan hourly schedules to meet daily goals and reduce costs
• Enforce all policies and regulations (FMCSR, OSHA, DOT)
• Ensure timely, damage-free customer freight processing and delivery
• Coach employees on safety rules and quality requirements
• Direct a team to meet productivity goals
• Participate in hiring decisions and action plan development
• Present load averaging and model compliance improvements
• Train employees on safety processes
• Maintain organization for safety and productivity
• Lead daily staff meetings and communicate policy changes
• Inspect tools and equipment for safe operation
• Provide improvement recommendations for shift operations
• Demonstrate XPO values and uphold high standards
• Minimize rehandles by prioritizing direct loading and sector loading
