Job summary

XPO is seeking a Freight Operations Supervisor in the United States to lead all freight operations, develop efficient procedures, and supervise hourly staff. The role emphasizes safety, compliance with FMCSR/OSHA/DOT, and cost control while delivering timely, damage-free customer freight.

The supervisor will plan shifts, monitor workloads, and coach team members to meet productivity targets and quality standards in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 2 years of related work experience in warehouse, distribution, supply chain, transportation or similar environment.
• Knowledge of LTL industry, hazmat regulations and DOT rules.
• Available to work days, evenings, nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise all freight operations.
• Develop and implement strategic work procedures for the department.
• Evaluate, manage, and supervise workloads and tasks.
• Supervise hourly staff and address workplace concerns.
• Ensure production goals by managing tonnage, payroll, and admin tasks.
• Plan schedules to meet daily ops goals and reduce costs.
• Enforce all policies and regulations to ensure compliance.
• Oversee loading, unloading and timely/damage-free delivery.
• Coach employees on safety and quality requirements and conduct evaluations.
• Direct a team to meet or exceed productivity targets.
• Make hiring, suspension and termination recommendations.
• Develop actions to improve load average and model compliance.
• Participate in safety and engagement committees.
• Train staff on safety rules and processes.
