Job summary

Paycom in Joliet, IL seeks a Freight Dispatcher to coordinate owner operators, drivers and third‑party carriers for 12‑hour shifts, alternating Saturdays. You will manage load tendering, scheduling and backhaul coordination to ensure timely delivery while adhering to driver hours of service regulations.

You will monitor hours, optimize load movement, prepare daily dispatch sheets and communicate revisions to all stakeholders.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED with 2–3 years in distribution/transportation.
Ability to learn service area and delivery locations quickly.
Experience using computerized routing software.
Excellent organization and multitasking abilities.
Strong written and oral communication; customer oriented.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and communicate delivery and backhaul schedules with owner operators, drivers and third party carriers.
Prepare daily dispatch sheets and load plans for dispatchers and drivers.
Monitor drivers’ hours of service for regulatory compliance and efficient load movement.
Match loads to drivers and incentivize when needed under the policy.
Prepare routing instructions for third party carriers and brief drivers at load tendering.
Maintain PTA board usage, updates and load revisions communication.
Assist with breakdowns, repowers and urgent repairs as required.
Promote safety, accuracy and ethical conduct in all dispatch activities.
