Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 2–3 years in distribution/transportation preferred.
• Knowledge of distribution and transportation industry is essential.
• Experience using computerized routing software is required.
• Solid organizational and multitasking abilities are needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate dispatch activities for owner operators and third-party carriers.
• Monitor load readiness and coordinate delivery times with DCs and receivers.
• Provide ETA updates to receiving locations and re-route to meet schedules when possible.
• Enter load progress in the company system in real time.
• Assist Load Planner and help match loads to drivers within policy.
• Prepare routing and delivery instructions for third-party drivers and orient them on tendered loads.
• Arrange breakdown response and dispatch replacement units when needed.
• Maintain daily, inbound, weather, and status reports; track truck/trailer locations and trailer status.
• Promote strong relationships with owner operators and respond to inquiries from customers.
• Ensure reports and forms are completed accurately and on time.
