Job summary

Forward Air Corp. Atlanta is seeking a Freight Handler (Forklift Operator) to load, unload, and move freight in a busy dock/warehouse setting. You will operate sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE, and accurately scan and document cargo to maintain freight integrity.

Candidates must have 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience, a valid forklift certification, and good English communication. Night/weekend/overtime work may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid forklift certification/licensure required.
• 3+ years of dock/warehouse experience.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, verbally and in writing.
• Able to perform basic arithmetic and verify freight counts.

Responsibilities

• Load and unload freight using sit-down/stand-up forklifts and other MHE.
• Move, stage, sort, and position freight between dock doors and designated areas.
• Pick, pack, and prepare items for shipping and delivery.
• Assist drivers with loading/unloading following safety procedures.
• Label, scan, and track freight to ensure accuracy and documentation integrity.
• Identify damaged freight and report issues promptly.
• Maintain a clean, safe dock environment and adhere to PPE standards.
• Work schedules including nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
• Provide support to dock productivity and workflow efficiency.
• Train, mentor, and support development of other Material Handlers.
