Job summary

Thomson Reuters in the United States (Eagan, MN) is hiring a Lead Software Engineer for the CoCounsel Legal Desktop App. You will set the technical bar, choose frameworks, shape the product from its early decisions, and ship production desktop code for Windows and macOS.

You will mentor engineers, collaborate with product and design, ensure testing and cross‑platform readiness, and partner with backend teams to integrate streaming, authentication, and file workflows.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience leading technical direction for a desktop product.
• Experience shipping production desktop applications.

Responsibilities

• Establish the technical foundation of the CoCounsel Legal desktop app, architecture decisions, packaging, and auto-update.
• Deliver hands-on desktop code across core features: agent, file integrations, OS notifications, clipboard, system tray.
• Integrate with backend teams to connect desktop app to APIs, streaming, authentication.
• Define and uphold desktop engineering standards, code reviews, testing, cross-platform requirements.
• Mentor desktop engineers and collaborate with product/design to deliver performant experiences.
• Contribute to broader Application Experience community with patterns and insights.
