Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Lead Software Engineer for the CoCounsel Legal Desktop App. You will set technical foundation, drive architecture, and ship code that makes the desktop experience fast, native, and indispensable for lawyers.

You will mentor engineers, partner with Product, and collaborate with backend teams to connect desktop features to APIs, streaming data, and secure authentication. This is a founding role with impact across platforms.

Qualifications

7+ years in software engineering with desktop experience on Windows/macOS.
Leads architecture decisions and engineering standards for a desktop product.
Shipping high‑quality production desktop applications in enterprise contexts.
Hands‑on experience with Electron, Tauri, or native desktop APIs.
Experience integrating with cloud APIs, OAuth/SSO, and local file systems.

Responsibilities

Establish the technical foundation and architecture decisions for the desktop app.
Deliver hands-on desktop code across core features and integrations.
Integrate the desktop app with backend agent APIs and services.
Define and uphold engineering standards including testing and performance.
Mentor and pair with desktop engineers to grow capability.
Collaborate with Product and Design to translate requirements into solid experiences.
