Job summary

Pearson is seeking a forward deployed engineer to embed with business lines, turning ambiguous problems into working software. You will own end-to-end development, from frontend to deployment, and deliver real AI-powered solutions in production.

You will work closely with stakeholders, uncover needs through discovery, and iterate quickly to ship tangible results. A strong background in full-stack development and AI-enabled services is required.

Qualifications

8+ years of full-stack engineering experience shipping production systems end to end.
Strong CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system design.
Frontend depth with React, TypeScript, component architecture and state management.
Backend depth: Node.js, Java, Python; API design and auth.
Production LLM experience: prompt engineering, agents, retrieval, deployment at scale.
Data tooling with Python; databases at working level.
Cloud and deployment fluency across AWS/GCP/Azure with URL behind auth.
Integration work with SSO/OAuth and APIs.

Responsibilities

Go where the problem is and design end-to-end systems for stakeholders.
Conduct real discovery by watching users work and translating needs into buildable work.
Build during conversations; ship working software quickly after discussions.
Work from messy inputs to coherent solutions without demanding cleanups.
Ship production AI applications using frontier LLMs, agents and retrieval systems.
Iterate across many engagements; adapt to changing requirements.
Own the full stack: frontend, backend, data, deployment, observability.
Codify reusable patterns and push improvements back to platform teams.
Maintain relationship with lines of business through lifecycle of engagements.
