Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. is seeking a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction projects at Fort Hood, Texas.

You will act as the SME for fire and life-safety systems, ensuring compliance with UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards throughout design reviews, inspections, and testing. The role involves coordinating with project teams, reviewing submittals, conducting acceptance testing, and guiding government stakeholders from early planning through construction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited college.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety requirements.
• USACE or other federal project experience preferred.
• Experience with quality assurance, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with RMS/QCS and federal construction management practices.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills.
• Ability to work effectively with government personnel, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Establish understanding of fire protection requirements related to UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure successful execution of fire protection features.
• Perform BCOES and plan-in-hand reviews, applying lessons from pre-construction to post-construction.
• Conduct inspections in compliance with project documentation and contract requirements.
• Evaluate work practices to ensure compliance with fire protection codes and policies.
• Prepare technical reports identifying deficiencies and recommending corrective actions.
• Provide technical guidance on facility design, construction features, and fire protection systems.
• Serve as a fire-safety consultant to project managers and government personnel.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical comments and recommendations.
