Job summary

Accura Engineering and Consulting Services, Inc. seeks a Fire Protection Engineer to support federal construction at Fort Hood, TX.

You will serve as the subject matter expert for fire and life safety systems, ensuring UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA compliance throughout design reviews, inspections, and acceptance testing. You will coordinate with project teams, review submittals, RFIs, and field changes, and provide technical guidance to government personnel and contractors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Minimum of five (5) years of Fire Protection Engineering experience.
• Knowledge of UFC 3-600-01, NFPA standards, and fire/life safety requirements.
• USACE or other federal project experience preferred.
• Experience with quality assurance, commissioning, and acceptance testing of fire protection systems.
• Familiarity with RMS/QCS and federal construction management practices.
• Strong technical writing, communication, and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Understand UFC 3-600-01 and NFPA standards relevant to the project.
• Attend project meetings and coordinate with stakeholders for successful fire protection features.
• Perform BCOES and plan-in-hand reviews using lessons from all project phases.
• Conduct inspections per approved documentation and contract requirements.
• Evaluate methods to ensure compliance with fire protection codes and policies.
• Prepare detailed technical reports identifying deficiencies and corrective actions.
• Provide guidance on facility design, construction features, and fire protection systems.
• Serve as a fire-safety consultant to project managers and government personnel.
• Review contractor submittals and provide technical comments.
• Address RFIs and review field changes.
• Schedule and conduct final acceptance testing for fire systems.
• Perform QA oversight and document findings.
