Job summary

Indiana University Health in Indianapolis is hiring a Food Services Worker for the Nutrition Services department at Riley Children’s Hospital. This part-time 20 hrs/wk role runs 4pm-9:30pm with rotating weekends, focusing on preparing, serving, and transporting meals to patients and visitors.

The position emphasizes quick, courteous service, adherence to safety and sanitation standards, and ability to operate kitchen and computer equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• No experience required; food service experience is a plus.
• Ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Ability to climb ladders.
• Physical ability to reach, stand for long periods, bend, and lift up to 80% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Prepare, plate, serve, and transport food and supplies to diverse customers (patients, family, physicians, staff, public).
• Provide quick, accurate, courteous service and resolve customer concerns.
• Maintain sanitation and infection control practices for food safety.
• Operate a variety of food service and computer equipment.

What You Will Do

• Prepare, plate, serve, and transport food and supplies to provide a high level of satisfaction for a diverse customer base. The customer base includes patients, family members, physicians, other employees and the public.
• Responsible for quick, accurate, and courteous service, and resolution of customer concerns.
• Responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning, and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
• Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.

What You Will Need

• High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience is preferred.
• No experience is required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
• Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
• Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
• Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
• Requires the ability to climb ladders.
• Physical requirements to include: reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
