IU Health in Lafayette, IN is seeking a dedicated kitchen/food service worker to support patient and staff meals in a fast-paced hospital setting. The role requires physical stamina to stand, lift up to 80 lbs, climb ladders if needed, and adherence to health regulations.

Qualifications

  • No experience required; prior food service experience is preferred.
  • Must be able to operate kitchen equipment.
  • Ability to adhere to health regulations and safety requirements.
  • Must wear protective equipment as required by environment.
  • Ability to climb ladders and lift up to 35–80 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Gathering dirty trays and running dish plates through dishwasher.
  • Washing pots and pans.
  • Putting away clean dishes and maintaining a clean dish area.
  • Sweep and mop kitchen and office floors.
  • Pull trash from kitchen throughout the entire shift.
  • Put clean dishes away in proper locations.
  • Scrub cover base around kitchen and serving line.
  • Prepares, plates, serves, and transports food and supplies to provide a high level of satisfaction for patients, family members, physicians, team members, and the public.
  • Responsible for timely, accurate, and courteous service.
  • Responsible for associated sanitation, cleaning, and infection control practices to ensure food safety.
  • Operates a variety of food service and computer equipment.

SCHEDULE

Monday – Friday 6:30am – 3:00 pm

*Rotating weekends

**Occasional 11:30am-8:00pm; as business needs and shift coverage

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent experience preferred.
  • No experience required. Prior food service experience is preferred.
  • Requires the ability to operate kitchen equipment.
  • Must be able to wear protective equipment/clothing required by the environment or government regulations such as gowns, gloves, goggles, rubber-soled closed-toe footwear, etc.
  • Requires adherence to local health regulations and safety requirements to produce safe food for consumption.
  • Requires the ability to climb ladders.
  • Physical requirements to include reaching, standing for long periods of time, squatting, bending, carrying and/or lifting supplies and equipment weighing 35 lbs. or more, up to 80% of the time.
