Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections is seeking a supervisor for its inmate food service operations. You will interview, hire, train, and evaluate inmate staff, ensuring daily duties are performed and standards met.

You will work with an inmate committee to address issues and maintain cafeteria security. Responsibilities include accurate weekly food orders, adherence to the master menu, health inspections, and ensuring equipment maintenance.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience is required.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking is required.
• Must be ServSafe Manager certified or obtain certification within 6 months of employment.
• Must be certified by SCDC training academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Interview, hire, evaluate and terminate inmate food service employees.
• Train and instruct all kitchen and dining staff in their duties and supervise daily activities.
• Maintain internal security of cafeteria in coordination with inmate representative committee to resolve issues.
• Ensure accurate preparation of all food orders weekly and ensure accurate deliveries.
• Prepare cook’s work sheet per SCDC master menu and maintain records for 5 years.
• Assist in health, fire & OSHA inspections and ensure maintenance/repair of cafeteria equipment.
