Job summary

The South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a cafeteria supervisor to oversee inmate food service staff and ensure efficient, compliant operations. You will train cooks, bakers, and dining staff, supervise daily activities, and maintain health and safety standards in the cafeteria.

Responsibilities include coordinating with inmate representatives, managing weekly food orders, ensuring proper worksheets, and preparing for inspections.

Qualifications

• Must have related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking required.
• ServSafe manager certification or must attain within 6 months of employment.
• Certification by SCDC Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training upon hire.
• Complete basic supervisory course within 18 months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees in duties.
• Supervises all personnel in daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria as officer.
• Works with inmate representative committee to resolve problems and complaints.
• Responsible for accurate preparation of all food orders weekly and deliveries.
• Prepares cook's worksheet per SCDC master menu and maintains 5-year records.
• Meets with health, fire and OSHA inspections.
• Ensures cafeteria equipment maintenance/repairs.
• ServSafe manager certification or attainment within six months.
