Job summary

State of South Carolina operates a correctional food service division seeking a knowledgeable supervisor to manage inmate staff, ensure safety and compliance, and coordinate meal preparation and deliveries. You will train cooks, bakers, and dining staff, oversee security in the cafeteria, and collaborate with inmate representatives to resolve issues.

Responsibilities include menu adherence, weekly order accuracy, inspections, and facilitating maintenance.

Qualifications

• Related food service experience.
• Experience in quantity and quality cooking.
• Must be certified as a ServSafe Manager or attain within 6 months.
• Certified by SC Department of Corrections Training Academy or complete SCDC basic training on hire.
• Must complete basic supervisory courses within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates and terminates inmate food service employees.
• Trains and instructs all employees and supervises daily duties.
• Maintains internal security of cafeteria and resolves problems with inmate committee.
• Ensures accurate preparation of all weekly food orders and deliveries.
• Prepares cook's work sheets per SCDC master menu and maintains 5-year records.
• Meets with health, fire & OSHA inspections.
• Ensures maintenance/repair work on cafeteria equipment.
• Must successfully complete four weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.
