Job summary

South Carolina Department of Corrections seeks a Food Service Supervisor to oversee civilian and inmate staff, supervise hiring, evaluations, and terminations, and ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards.

You will plan and direct food service operations, coordinate inspections, maintain documentation, and train staff according to SCDC requirements, including completing introductory training upon hire.

Qualifications

• Related supervisory experience in food service.
• High school diploma and 5 years’ cooking experience.
• HACCP or ServSafe Manager certification required or to attain within six months.
• Certification by SCDC training academy or completion of basic training upon hire.
• Complete basic course within eighteen months of employment.

Responsibilities

• Interviews, hires, evaluates, and terminates all civilian and inmate food service employees.
• Organize, plan, and direct purchases, preparation and service of food and the maintenance of food service equipment and facilities.
• Make frequent inspections to ensure that standards are maintained.
• Supervise, instruct, and counsel employees.
• Coordinates and teaches correct techniques of food preparation for maximum palatability and appearance with minimum waste.
• Purposes, meet with health, fire, OSHA inspections,
• Responsible for ensuring that all required maintenance/repair work is performed on cafeteria equipment.
• Supervises all personnel in the performance of their daily duties.
• Prepares cook's worksheet in strict accordance with SCDC master menu and maintains records for a 5-year period.
