Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a FOIA Analyst to support the legal mission of a large federal agency. The role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting correspondence, and negotiating with requesters and staff.

Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently are essential. Ideal candidates will have extensive FOIA experience, familiarity with FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease, and the ability to obtain a government security clearance.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of FOIA processing experience.
• Knowledge of FOIA exemptions b(4), b(5), b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and FOIA correspondence.
• Negotiate with requesters and FOIA staff as needed.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
