Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to support a large federal agency. The role involves processing FOIA requests, drafting correspondence, and negotiating with requesters and stakeholders. The analyst will ensure compliance with FOIA exemptions and coordinate document searches.

Ideal candidates have experience with FOIA rules, ability to read and write in English, and security clearance readiness. Prior federal experience and familiarity with FOIA EXPRESS and SecureRelease are a plus.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience processing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.
• Demonstrated experience and knowledge of FOIA rules and regulations; applying exemptions b(4), b(5), and b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential commercial information.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as a liaison with requesters and other agencies regarding records.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicate records.
• Review program records for responsiveness and offer release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not contain exempt information.
