Job summary

CGS Federal is seeking a Senior FOIA Analyst to support a federal agency's legal mission. The role focuses on processing FOIA requests, drafting letters, and negotiating with requesters and other stakeholders.

Ideal candidates will handle backlogged requests, manage FOIA tracking, and ensure compliant release determinations while maintaining high standards of accuracy and independence.

Qualifications

• FOIA rules and regulations; apply exemptions b(4), b(5), b(6).
• Experience redacting records with trade secrets and confidential information.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Receive, review, and analyze new and backlogged FOIA requests.
• Intake incoming requests and prepare FOIA request folders.
• Enter request data in the FOIA tracking database.
• Draft response letters and other FOIA correspondence.
• Communicate and initiate negotiations with requesters, FOIA staff, sponsors, and contractors.
• Serve as a liaison with requesters and other agencies when needed.
• Coordinate searches for responsive documents and identify duplicates.
• Review program records for responsiveness and release determinations.
• Ensure released materials do not contain exempt information.
