Job summary

Blue Origin in Washington state is seeking an experienced systems engineer to join the New Glenn Upper Stage and Payload Accommodations program. You will perform systems engineering activities, engage in trade studies, allocate margins, manage risk, and ensure regulatory compliance for a safe, reusable launch system.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace engineering or other technical field.
  • 5+ years hands-on experience in Fluids, Thermal, Propulsion, Cryogenics, Pneumatic systems.
  • Hands-on experience in at least one: Analysis, Design, Testing, Launch Operations.
  • Experience developing, authoring, and implementing integrated tests or operating launch vehicles.
  • Ability to operate effectively under time pressure with evolving requirements.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work in teams and lead through influence.
  • Experience in system engineering on launch vehicles or in other regulated industries.
  • Experience writing and consuming requirements.
  • Ability to operate, lead, and progress in ambiguous environments.

Responsibilities

  • Support Vehicle and Ground System Project Leads by carrying out systems engineering activities.
  • Develop and implement verification plans and strategies to verify requirements.
  • Requirements authoring, decomposition, analysis, traceability, and verification.
  • Negotiate interfaces and coordinate between internal and external customers.
  • Author operations documents that define product testing requirements and lifecycle.
  • Define operational constraints for end-to-end safe handling and operation of the subsystem.
  • Develop, build, and maintain detailed CONOPS for pre-launch and flight operations.
  • Collaborate with test, launch operations, and autonomous flight operations teams to include constraints in procedures.
  • Provide real-time on-console engineering support for integrated tests, launches and recovery operations.
  • Deep dive data and conduct post flight data reviews for the Fluids subsystem.
