Job summary

Hy-Vee is seeking a Floral Department Manager who will lead the Floral team, manage pricing, promotions, and orders while ensuring exceptional customer service. You’ll direct staff, plan schedules, and maintain department standards to optimize profitability and freshness.

You will oversee inventory, signage, and displays, handle FTD and Teleflora orders, and collaborate with store leadership to meet department goals and safety requirements in a busy retail environment.

• Ability to analyze sales data and manage pricing, promotions, and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Set standards for customer service, staff relations, cleanliness, and department profitability.
• Greet customers and resolve concerns promptly and professionally.
• Process floral orders (FTD, Teleflora, interstore, internet) while maintaining confidentiality of order details.
• Recruit, hire, train, supervise, and develop department employees.
• Plan weekly schedules and daily work plans with input from leadership.
• Inspect signage and displays; order product and ensure competitive pricing.
• Analyze weekly/monthly sales and trends; prepare ad projections and write ads.
• Plan displays and promotions to drive sales and customer engagement.
• Manage department bookkeeping and financial procedures; oversee invoices.
• Oversee inventory control and proper storage to maintain freshness and reduce shrink.
• Oversee equipment maintenance and safety for department operations.
• Unload shipments and place product in storage areas.
• Approve employee discipline and handle transfers or wage adjustments as needed.
• Attend meetings and continuing education as assigned.
• Provide phone support and take product orders when needed.
