Job summary

Mad Science is seeking a part-time facilitator for after-school science enrichment programs in Oakland, CA. You will run a one-hour, hands-on science class each week for 8–10 weeks, using a pre-set curriculum, and enjoy engaging young children with fun science activities.

Flexibility to teach on two weekdays after 2 p.m. is preferred, with training provided and materials supplied. This role offers a casual, rewarding environment and year-round programming.

Qualifications

• Some experience working with groups of elementary-age (4-12) children (preferred).
• Must be available at least two weekdays after 2 p.m.
• Must have reliable transportation that is not public or ride share.
• All employees will be fingerprinted for criminal background checks (required).
• Some college.
• Have a fun & outgoing personality.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating a one-hour after-school science enrichment program using a pre-set curriculum.
• Each session is a high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on class that meets for one hour each week for 8-10 weeks.
• Enjoy teaching young children the art of science!
• Occasional daytime programming if your availability allows
