Job summary

Mad Science of the Bay Area is seeking instructors to lead after-school science enrichment sessions in Oakland. Each one-hour class uses a preset curriculum and runs weekly for 8–10 weeks, blending entertainment with hands-on learning for kids aged 4–12.

You’ll train in the curriculum, handle materials, and deliver engaging, interactive sessions while maintaining a fun, outgoing presence and reliability. This is a part-time opportunity that aligns with a flexible lifestyle.

Qualifications

• Some experience working with groups of elementary-age children (4–12) preferred.
• Must be available at least two weekdays after 2 p.m.
• Must have reliable transportation that is not public or rideshare.
• All employees will be fingerprinted for criminal background checks (required).
• Have a fun and outgoing personality.

Responsibilities

• Facilitating a one-hour after-school science enrichment program using a pre-set curriculum.
• Each session is a high-energy, part entertainment, part education, hands-on class meeting weekly for 8–10 weeks.
• Enjoy teaching young children the art of science.
• Occasional daytime programming if your availability allows.
