Job summary

FedEx Freight, Inc. is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician in Houston, TX to provide timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance for our vehicle fleet, including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment.

The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and documentation to ensure safe operation and regulatory compliance. Starting pay is $31.54 per hour, with additional $5.50 per hour for ASE Master certification, $1,000 annual tool reimbursement, shift

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
• One year experience maintaining vehicles or possess vehicle maintenance certificate or completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools used for troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing approx. 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes adjustments for safe operation.
• Collaborates with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance, reports in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
• Comply with laws, regulations and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
