Job summary

The City of New York's Department of Environmental Protection seeks a Strategic & Systems Manager for Fleet Services to lead the fleet operations across thousands of vehicles and equipment. Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration or related field with 2 years budget/financial analysis experience; 18 months in a supervisory role.
• Bachelor's degree with 4 years of professional experience in budgeting, accounting, or fiscal management and 18 months in a supervisory role.
• Multiple pathways exist including associate degree with 6 years of qualifying experience or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Fleet Oversight and Operations: manage agency vehicles for availability, safety, and reliability.
• Maintenance and Preventive Programs: develop schedules, authorize repairs, track costs.
• Cost and Resource Management: analyze costs, fuel usage, and optimize expenditures.
• Project Planning and Coordination: plan fleet expansion and coordinate with internal/external partners.
• Technology and Data Management: apply fleet systems and telematics, monitor usage and driver behavior.
• Customer and Stakeholder Coordination: serve as central contact for internal customers and vendors.
• Reporting and KPIs: monitor metrics for fleet operations and staff performance.
• Compliance: ensure safety, training, and regulatory adherence.
