Job summary

NYC Department of Environmental Protection is seeking a Fleet Strategic & Systems Manager within the Office of Fleet Services. You will lead a team overseeing vehicle availability, maintenance, and cost controls while driving data-informed decisions across fleet operations.

Responsibilities include planning asset expansion, coordinating with partners, applying telematics, and ensuring compliance with safety rules. NYC residency may apply; open to qualified applicants.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration and two years of related experience.
• Alternatively a Bachelor's degree with four years of professional experience in budget/financial administration or program evaluation.
• JD or combination of education/experience acceptable with high school prep as backup.

Responsibilities

• Fleet Oversight and Operations: ensure vehicles are available, safe, and reliable.
• Maintenance and Preventive Programs: develop and track preventive maintenance schedules and costs.
• Cost and Resource Management: analyze costs, fuel use, and optimize expenses.
• Project Planning and Coordination: plan fleet expansion and coordinate with internal/external partners.
• Technology and Data Management: apply fleet tech and telematics to monitor usage and maintenance.
• Customer and Stakeholder Coordination: act as liaison for internal customers and vendors.
• Reporting and KPIs: track metrics for fleet operations and staff performance.
• Compliance: ensure adherence to safety standards and regulations.
