City of New York is seeking a Community Assistant to support DEP Fleet Services. You will deliver customer service to fleet clients, help develop SOPs, coordinate vehicle deliveries, and handle registrations and data reporting with systems like Fleet Focus and Geotab.
Strong English communication is required; no formal education or experience is necessary. The role involves event support and basic automotive tasks within NYC’s fleet environment.
The NYC Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) enriches the environment and protects public health for all New Yorkers by providing 1.1 billion gallons of high-quality drinking water, managing wastewater and stormwater, and reducing air, noise, and hazardous materials pollution. DEP is the largest combined municipal and wastewater utility in the country, with nearly 6,000 employees. DEP's water supply system is comprised of 19 reservoirs and 3 controlled lakes throughout the system's 2,000 square mile watershed that extends 125 miles north and west of NYC.
DEP's Fleet Services Division oversees the purchase, use, maintenance and management of DEP vehicles, special equipment and related services. Fleet Services also monitors compliance with NYC Fleet and Vision Zero mandates, fuel and E-ZPass rules, parking and traffic regulations, and driver safety initiatives. The Fleet Services team provides complete life cycle management (design / build, distribution / maintenance, and relinquishment) of approximately 5,000 pieces of equipment throughout the 5 boroughs and NYC's unique watershed.
