Job summary

Charleston County seeks an experienced Fleet or Operations Manager to supervise the Fleet Operations team and oversee the replacement cycle for vehicles and equipment. You will coordinate with departments, vendors, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate specifications, bids, and compliant deliveries.

The role includes leading during EOC activations, approving replacement requests, and managing onboarding documentation.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED with 6+ years in Fleet Management, Logistics, Operations or Cost Management, supervising staff or fleet.
Undergraduate degree required with 2+ years supervising staff or managing a fleet; or 4+ years in lieu of a degree.
Substantial knowledge of Faster, Ward, and Mansfield Fleet & Fuel Management Software.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
Valid SC Driver's license or ability to obtain within 3 months; may require a CDL.

Responsibilities

Collaborates with departments to identify vehicle type and quantity needed.
Engages with vendors to procure vehicles and equipment.
Analyzes fleet data to support replacement decisions.
Completes all required documentation for fleet onboarding.
Acts as Transportation Manager during EOC activation.
Reviews replacement requests and approves based on criteria.
Serves as customer service liaison with County departments.
Participates in training sessions and committee meetings.
Oversees auction/resale process for equipment, including documenting condition and values.
