Job summary

Washington State Department of Ecology is hiring a Fleet Operations Analyst to manage Ecology’s statewide fleet and provide data-driven guidance across programs.

You will review fleet data, identify trends, and help improve processes—from routine use and recordkeeping to supporting the switch to electric vehicles. The role emphasizes cross‑program coordination and policy interpretation.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience and/or education related to the duties of the position.
  • Education includes a major study in transportation management, public administration, business administration, law, environmental law, environmental management, environmental or public policy, economics or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide agency-wide oversight of Ecology’s fleet, ensuring accurate recordkeeping and compliance with DES, OFM, and internal policies.
  • Analyze fleet and commute data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improved efficiency and compliance.
  • Support fleet planning including vehicle procurement, replacement scheduling, and EV transition.
  • Serve as a subject-matter resource for fleet coordinators statewide, offering day-to-day guidance on data standards and policy interpretation.
  • Develop and maintain procedures, dashboards, and documentation to support consistent fleet practices.
  • Train fleet coordinators on vehicle use categories, utilization, reporting procedures, and CTR program.
  • Review and audit vehicle data, identify discrepancies, and coordinate corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Agency Transportation & Sustainability Officer, Risk & Budget Manager, and partners to implement policy updates.
