Job summary

Covenant Transport, Inc. seeks a Department Manager to link drivers, customers, and operations. You will supervise the Feed or Live Haul teams, coach drivers, and drive key service and utilization goals across the fleet.

You’ll coordinate with customers on fleet activity, monitor performance, safety, and compliance, and engage in planning activities to maximize asset utilization and on-time delivery.

Qualifications

• Must be able to communicate effectively verbally, in writing, and electronically.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and HOS is required.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and changing environment.
• Ability to manage people effectively.
• Self-motivated and able to work unsupervised.

Responsibilities

• Manage dedicated fleet of professional drivers and monitor performance, attendance, safety and quality.
• Direct and dispatch all transportation activities within the department.
• Maintain customer relations through clear communication and visits.
• Provide coaching and feedback to drivers based on performance and safety data.
• Track loads, ETAs/PTAs and coordinate with other departments to resolve issues.
