Job summary

Werner Enterprises, Inc. in Omaha, NE, is seeking a Transportation Manager to build and maintain driver relationships, ensure driver needs are met, and coordinate with operations and logistics teams to optimize loads.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and/or 2–3 years in fleet management, plus supervisory experience. Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, with daily interaction across billing, safety, and maintenance to deliver reliable service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and/or 2–3 years of fleet management or transportation experience preferred.
• Six months to one year of supervisory experience preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to use a computer terminal and satellite communications system required.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain driver relationships and understand driver needs (home time, payroll, equipment issues, etc.).
• Partner with Dedicated and Associate Logistics Managers to optimize driver loads based on origin/destination, freight type, miles, stops, etc.
• Understand and adhere to customer dynamics and service expectations to improve value for the Customer and Werner.
• Interface with billing, vans, customer service, risk, safety, payroll, fuel, maintenance, and external vendors.
• Work closely with the Dedicated Logistics Manager or Operations Manager to fill and maintain a full board of drivers.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Dedicated Logistics Manager.
• Ensure timely and regular attendance according to the shift schedule.
