Job summary

Republic Services in Durham, NC seeks a Maintenance Technician B to perform repair and maintenance on diesel and non-diesel equipment, including chassis, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, brakes, HVAC, suspension, drive train and steering. Basic tire work may be required and on-site/road service is provided.

Under supervision, you will diagnose multi-system issues, handle line maintenance tasks, and participate in safety training to ensure reliable operations.

Qualifications

• Ability to diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical expertise.
• Basic understanding of work order labor time standards.
• 3-5 years of experience in a technician position or graduate from an automotive college/technical school within the next 3 months.
• ASE Certifications (T1-T8) are a plus but not required.
• Commercial Driver’s License is a plus but not required.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose multi-system issues and demonstrate technical proficiency.
• Perform preventative and repair maintenance on chassis components, refuse bodies, hydraulic and electrical systems, air and hydraulic braking systems.
• Carry out light engine repair, suspension, drivetrain and steering work, and HVAC maintenance.
• Perform line maintenance welding and fabrication as needed.
• Provide safe road service to return equipment to operation promptly.
