Job summary

Orange County Sanitation District seeks a Lead Mechanic (Fleet) to supervise technicians and crane operators, oversee maintenance and repair of OC San fleet vehicles and heavy equipment, and ensure high-quality, safety-conscious workmanship in shop and field. The position leads and coordinates maintenance crews and plans preventive maintenance for equipment, vehicles, and related fleet assets.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, five years of progressive mechanical maintenance

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED supplemented by relevant mechanical maintenance training.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible mechanical maintenance experience on field or automotive equipment, rebuild facilities, or collection systems.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise technicians and crane operators responsible for inspection, preventive maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and service of OC San fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Coordinate maintenance activities and resources; support regulatory compliance and emergency operations; provide technical guidance.
• Review work orders, assign and coordinate tasks, plan maintenance projects, and train/mentor staff.
