Job summary

Orange County Government seeks an experienced automotive/diesel mechanic to lead a shop team, perform preventive maintenance, and execute complex repairs on fleet vehicles and emergency equipment. The role requires strong leadership, diagnostic skills, and the ability to manage schedules and logs in a busy shop environment.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or equivalent, six years of mechanic experience, and valid Florida CDL with possible additional ASE/EVT certifications.

Qualifications

• Six (6) years of automotive or diesel mechanic experience.
• Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Must possess four (4) ASE or EVT certifications; Master Level within two (2) years.
• Two (2) years extra experience may substitute for each ASE/EVT certification.

Responsibilities

• Leads, mentors, and trains other mechanics.
• Plans assignments and schedules work for efficient shop operation.
• Maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs systems and equipment.
• Maintains service logs and shop inventory.
• Inspects work and test drives vehicles.
• Acts as Acting Shop Supervisor in absence of Senior Foreman/Shop Supervisor.
