Job summary

Montgomery County Government's Department of General Services, Fleet Management Services, is seeking an Equipment Maintenance Crew Chief to lead a team of Mechanic Technicians and perform hands-on inspection and repair of light to heavy duty vehicles. This role requires strong supervisory skills, ability to schedule work, enforce PM schedules, and coordinate with county departments.

The position is essential and may require shifts including nights/weekends; successful candidate will undergo

Qualifications

• Six years journey-level experience in heavy-duty vehicle repair.
• High school diploma required; advanced automotive education preferred.
• ASE Master Certification and CDL requirements may apply.

Responsibilities

• Schedule and assign work repairing vehicles;
• Inspect work in progress or on completion to ensure quality;
• Provide technical advice on difficult jobs;
• Monitor preventive maintenance schedules;
• Evaluate employee performance and attendance;
• Coordinate with county departments to resolve issues;
• Enter and review data in the fleet information system;
• Coach and mentor employees.
