Job summary

Orange County Sanitation District is actively seeking a Lead Mechanic (Fleet) to oversee maintenance, repair, and servicing of fleet vehicles and heavy equipment across OC San sites. You will lead technicians and crane operators, provide technical guidance, and coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, 5 years of mechanical maintenance experience, and California driver licenses (C, B, A with endorsements).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus specialized training or coursework in mechanical equipment maintenance and repair.
• Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in preventive and corrective mechanical maintenance on field or automotive equipment and related facilities.
• Valid California Class C Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate technicians and crane operators in inspection, preventive maintenance, diagnosis, repair, and services of OC San fleet vehicles and heavy equipment.
• Provide technical guidance; coordinate maintenance activities and resources.
• Support regulatory compliance and emergency operations.
• Train, coach, and mentor staff; review work orders and plan maintenance projects.
