Job summary

Allan Myers Inc. in Virginia seeks an experienced Technical Advisor to oversee vehicle and equipment maintenance across the fleet. You will coordinate upkeep, repairs, and safety practices while supporting budget planning and potential acquisitions.

You will train and coach shop and field staff, ensure accurate maintenance records, and help implement department strategies. The role emphasizes independent work, strong communication, and alignment with Allan Myers values and safety culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; technical school degree in Diesel or Automotive preferred.
• 5–10 years of experience in construction equipment maintenance.
• Practical knowledge of the function, operation, and maintenance of construction equipment and related vehicles.
• Proficient with equipment diagnostic software.
• Ability to work independently, professionally, and under pressure.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a technical advisor to shop & field mechanics and employees for all vehicle and equipment maintenance.
• Manages effective vehicle and equipment maintenance, repair, and safety practices.
• Assists with management of telematic systems to ensure they are reporting accurately.
• Assists with the tracking of all maintenance and inspection events to ensure records are complete, accurate and compliant.
• Assists with maintaining maintenance records.
• Effectively trains, coaches, and develops employees to achieve and maintain positive working relationship within the shop. Applies appropriate influence while adhering to established policies and procedures.
• Makes quick, rational decisions while striving for innovation and efficiencies within the department.
• Performs additional duties as requested by management.
• Communicates, models, and continuously reinforces the Allan Myers culture and leadership practices with direct reports, including Allan Myers Values, Safety, Delay-Free Production, Ethics Police, and the Collaborative Way.
